The Goops

The Goops they lick their fingers,
And the Goops they lick their knives:
They spill their broth on the tablecloth-
Oh, they lead disgusting lives!
The Goops they talk while eating,
And loud and fast they chew;
And that is why I'm glad that I
Am not a Goop--are you?          Gelett Burgess

Looks like a week night dinner at home

I haven't found Nibble yet.  Maybe he's visiting the Goops.  I'll keep looking and doodling and get back to you.

Miniature Monsters

Here are two of the three characters I've been having fun developing.

They are mischievious miniature monsters.
As I said there are three of them but only two have shown themselves to me.

The top character is Chomp, The one below him is Gnash and the elusive one is named Nibble.  As soon as I track him down I'll post his doodle.

Say you're developing a story and you have a character you like.  You know how you want the character to speak, act, look.  Have you seen these mannerisms before?  Probably. The above dragon doodle is, Serafina Jenkins, one of the main characters in my soon to be published middle-grade fantasy novel.  Her character was influenced by my Mom.They don't look much alike, but they had certain characteristics in common.  My Mom's mannerisms also influenced another character within the book, Mrs. Trecotten.  The fun thing about developing characters is that you can take a bit from everyone you know and make an amalgamation
of familiar, interesting, exotic, peculiar, etc.
mannerisms, patterns, and or behaviors. In future posts
I'll introduce some other characters I'm having fun developing.

"Hope" is the thing with feathers--
That perches in the soul--
And sings the tune without the words--
And never stops--at all--

And sweetest--in the Gale--is heard--
And sore must be the storm--
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm--

I've heard it in the chillest land--
And on the strangest Sea--
Yet, never in Extremity,
It asked a crumb--of Me.    Emily Dickenson

A hopeful doodle-- JM
I hope to .... finish revisions.
