Point of View

I've discovered a curious similarity between two artistic modalities and though I'm sure others have known this for some time its new to me, and so I thought I'd share it, just in case others hadn't realized it yet.

I'm trying my hand at drawing and I was working at overlaps when I realized how similar they were to first person point of view in writing. When a writer is portraying a first person point of view he must show only what that character sees and not what he can't see.  That's much the same in overlap drawing.

I had to draw only what I saw and not what I knew to be behind or a part of the actual object. Applying this realization to writing, specifically when depicting a character's point of view of an object or action, will help the author stay in touch with their character's perspective.

My first try at overlaps and using plumbline .
